Gigabyte today announces GeForce GTX 980 Tri-SLI WaterForce, a Tri-SLI configuration in one package.
So what is WaterForce? Think about it as three graphics cards connected to external radiator. Each cards comes with its own water pump, which can be controlled and monitored with the front-panel. WaterForce is essentially a step forward from other AIO GPU packages, like R9 295X2. Here you get three cards, so you don’t need to worry about the space for each radiator. Sure, you still need to place this huge external unit, but it’s as easy to install as placing it right on top of the case.
Each card in this system is clocked at 1228 MHz / 1329 MHz (base and boost) with memory clock at 7 GHz. It is it worth the cost? That question is yet to be answered, as Gigabyte has not revealed the final pricing yet. WaterForce will take the pleasure of making your own custom liquid loop away from you, but it’s easy to install and control, and you don’t have to worry about anything expect the cost.
I still hope it will end up cheaper than custom build, but it will never look as good.
