Both Upton brothers leave game with injuries
The Atlanta Braves lost outfielder Jason Heyward to a hamstring injury on Thursday, and on Friday, both Upton brothers had to leave the game against Cincinnati because of injuries.
Center fielder B.J. Upton suffered a strained right abductor muscle in the first inning, and Justin Upton, who had moved from right field to center when B.J. was injured, left at the end of the seventh inning with a calf injury.
B.J. Upton got a poor read of on a line drive hit by the Reds' Todd Frazier in the first inning.
B.J. made a dive for the ball, but it bounced off his glove. When he fell, his right knee dug into grass.
The Braves said the injury was to the abductor muscle, which is near the hip.
It's not yet clear whether Upton will miss any more games. He's batting just .177.
Justin Upton came up limping after grounding out to shortstop to lead off the seventh inning. He sustained a strained calf and will be re-evaluated on Saturday.
Justin Upton entered the night with a .255 average and 16 homers.
Also, X-rays on Braves outfielder Jordan Schafer's right ankle revealed a stress fracture and he could be out six weeks.
