Voigtlander has announced the new Micro Four Thirds Nokton 10.5mm f/0.95 Aspherical lens, with manual focus and aperture. The lens is made up of 13 elements in 10 groups, has a 17cm minimum focus distance, and a 77mm filter thread. The lens weights 586g and is due to be released in 2015, and the price is as yet unknown. We were able to take a number of sample photos with the lens, and were impressed by the straight edges, as well as the sharpness of the lens.

Looks huge on the GM1, but that's probably a bit unfair. A fast wide like this couldn't be exactly small. Could be the first fairly wide equivalent to really give some control over subject isolation - what's the DoF equivalence at 21mm - around f2?

Happy day! When they get around to creating REAL wide angle lenses, micro four thirds will have come unto its own. I'm looking forward to the announcement of the 7.5 (best) to 8 (OK)mm. They would also get kudos from many with the introduction of a full frame fisheye. I don't really understand their obsession with speed, but if they can do it and it's as sharp as what they've put out to date, then MORE POWER!!
