Heroes of Newerth is 'not going anywhere'

Heroes of Newerth developer S2 Games has no intention of abandoning the title in light of its newly announced MOBA, Strife, chief executive officer Marc DeForest said during a recent press event.

The game was released in 2010 and became free-to-play in 2011. DeForest said that it is the company's "complete intention" to continue to provide service for the game's 2.5 million active players. DeForest added that even with the reveal of Strife, it's important that players don't think they're "just looking to kill off HoN."

"HoN has a place," DeForest said. "The gameplay of HoN is extremely fun.

"We will continue to operate HoN for what we expect to be years to come. We're still on a growth pattern. We're going to be launching in China in December of this year. It's important to know that while we expect these two games to compete, that game is not going anywhere."

S2 Games announced its "second-generation" MOBA, Strife, earlier today. Check out our in-depth interviews and first look at the game for more details.
