Best Buy does NOT want your Vita games

I sometimes look up trade in values on gamestop and best buy just to get an estimate on value and demand. I decided to look up some Vita games I owned, and I started noticed a trend...then I decided to just look up every Vita game, and here's just a taste.

You could very easily say that you shouldn't trade in games anyway, and normally I'd agree, but the reason this sticks out to me is how much it sucks for the value retailers see for ANY vita games. Even games that have come out in the last week have a trade in value of $1.00 on there, or ones that are harder to find then others. I just really think this sucks, because the Vita (and PSTV imo) are great systems who have just been handled like crap for so long. Retailers like Best Buy obviously don't see any value on any of the system's games anymore.

Honestly I'm surprised they do used games at all still. My local BB stores used game sections are a total wasteland. Just seems like a suboptimal use of space in general.

I imagine Vita owners fall under two camps.

Diehard collectors who buy everything day 1 & grab collector's editions if possible.
People who want a deal who focus primarily on digital downloads.

Neither group really fits the kind of person who is going to be buying or trading used games at Best Buy.

They never stocked Dangan Ronpa 2...I wanted to buy it too.
I keep forgetting BB has used games since they don't sell them where I live

But they sure don't mind selling their used vita games for ridiculous prices.

once every couple weeks, they have stupid sales on their vita games, couple weeks ago it was Lego Batman 3 for 5 bucks i think, unless it was a pricing error in store.

They're a business. You're acting as if they're not giving the games a fair shot or something when the reality is they offered reasonable prices for people selling back games over many months and consistently saw a poor return on that investment. The reason they don't offer money for them is because they likely have hundreds of thousands of Vita games that they expected to move yet stagnate on the shelves and in storage.

It doesn't matter if the games are new releases or not. Best Buy would probably know a little more than us normal folk in regards to how well the second-hand market is doing in terms of Vita games, and if they're at the point where the games aren't even worth buying back, well, that's not really Best Buy's fault.

I love my Vita and have around two dozen physical games for it, but come on

Sony should pull the plug on Vita's retail presence. It only hurts the system's image, and image is crucial to the only viable market left for the system (as a luxury/niche gaming product for a specific download- and indie-friendly audience).

Somehow I seriously doubt that...

He's right...you can look up their preowned prices on their website...You trade in some of the games in the picture up top like... Akiba's Trip, they'll sell it for $34.99... or Disgaea 4, they'll gladly mark it up 90% for $19.99. Conception 2...$34.99

They pretty much already have. very few games get retail releases, and most stores have minimal, if any, vita sections.

people that don't want to buy a licence and would rather own the game than have someone decide if they can play it or not in the future

You are going to hate the next generation of systems....

That's because all Best Buys have 2 shelf spots for Vita. One has a single copy of Sly Cooper and the other has 18 copies of Lego Movie the Video Game.

I already do hate the current gen of systems, that's why I'm not buying a PS4 or Xbox One.

I saw a thread recently because someone was having trouble saying that they couldn't play Dissidia 012 on either their Vita, or PSTV...the system was behaving as if it wasn't white listed. This just really brought to my attention even more so then ever how I do NOT want a digital future, especially from console manufacturers. Fuck them having the ability to remove compatibility for a game on certain hardware.

Guys, I don't think this platform is doing that well...

Most of the Vita's game sales are probably digital though. At least, I'd imagine way higher than the standard 10-20% of physical sales.

Don't know a thing about Best Buy. But if I saw $1 trade in value for every Vita Game, I'd assume that it's a system error.

Yeah this thread made me go check it out. I wouldn't have minded picking up some cheap games if they were trying to clear out space. Their used prices are horrible, though.

Doubtful, it's been like that for a few days. Also, I noticed when I scrolled down that there were actually some marked at $0.25, including Virtue's Last Reward -_-

I want your Vita games! I'll give you 1,50 €/$ for your copy of Danganronpa, Disgaea 3&4 and Freedom Wars. Each!

Probably a system error. At least I hope so.
