I hate to tell you that as it doesn't solve anything but I recommend it, it's just far less hassle.
1. x360ce will not work because it assumes any sane developer would use at least xinput for x360 support. Not to mention some other superior x360 pc drivers available
2. Bad news to all x360 controller users: because ffxiii use DI8 it's support for x360 is lesser(no vibration effects? If so, send your thanks to S/E):

Thank you for the info, I hoped that the port wanst so hard coded as a console game. I mean only 2 things that matter, custom resolution and controller's support, basic on any pc game. Damm xbox 360 dev tools.
And my caracter camera keeps looping around GRRRRR
